Making Energy Work: Building a Sustainable Energy Economy in the Southeast

Amory Lovins Speaks at Catawba College

National energy expert and Rocky Mountain Institute co-founder Amory Lovins will speak at Keppel Auditorium at Catawba College in Salisbury on February 23, 2010 beginning at 7 pm.  The presentation, which is hosted by the College's Center for the Environment, is free and open to the public, but registration is required.  Since the Center must raise all funds for operations and depends on gifts to provide programs like this, it would welcome a donation of $10 or more from those whoh attend the program.  These funds will go toward providing scholarships for high school students who need financial assistance to attend the Center’s National Youth Environmental Summit in July.  The Summit is a partnership between the Center and Lovins’ organization, Rocky Mountain Institute.  Click here to learn more about this event and to register.

Building a Renewable Energy Industry in the Charlotte Region

Building a Renewable Energy Industry in the Charlotte Region

Wednesday, February 24, 2010
US National Whitewater Center, Charlotte
4-8 PM

Join the North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association (NCSEA), business and energy leaders, government officials and economic development experts for a unique educational and networking event at the US National Whitewater Center in Charlotte on Wednesday, February 24th from 4-8 pm.  Speakers and attendees will discuss and debate the following question:  What energy policies would create the most renewable energy jobs and attract the most business to the 16-county Charlotte region?  Please email Joel Olsen, NCSEA's Acting Charlotte Region Director, at joel@energync.org if you have questions about this event.  (Click here for directions to the Whitewater Center.)

This event, which will be the first of several planned NCSEA events for 2010, will provide the status and an overview of pending energy policy legislation that could create market opportunities for the Renewable Energy Industry in the Charlotte Region.  This event will focus on the feed-in rate financing mechanism, which has been used successfully by countries around the world and US cities, and how the Charlotte Region could create jobs while attracting and growing a renewable energy industry if a well-designed feed-in rate policy is passed.

Registration for the forum and networking reception is $25 for NCSEA members or government and $35 for non-members. Click on the links below to register now - space is limited!
